Mixed Emotions

Yesterday was a day full of emotions. It was also incredibly busy.

When I checked facebook yesterday morning, I found some very upsetting news. Our friend, and Kyrie's band teacher, Brek Mangelson, lost his son the night before in a very crazy accident. Garrett was in the garage and somehow a very heavy hitch fell on him puncturing one of his lungs. The administration of Westlake along with their counseling staff met with the marching band to break the news to them. The band came up with several ideas to support the Mangelson family. They will be doing a fundraiser to help raise money to help with funeral costs on Saturday at the Lehi Macey's. They will be selling hotdogs and drinks. I will also be doing face painting. 100% of the proceeds go to the family. The band will be wearing black bands for their parades tonight and Monday. They will then wear gold bands for the remainder of the season in Garrett's honor. They will be dedicating their season to the Mangleson family.

I appreciate Brek more than he'll know. He has done so much for my daughter and hundreds of other kids. He is a truly inspiring teacher who teaches his students that hard work and dedication pay off. My heartfelt sympathies and many prayers for the Mangelson family.




We also had the opportunity to celebrate this little guy's first birthday. He is so cute and my girls love him. They had so much fun swimming in the pool. Happy Birthday, Camden. And thanks for the invite, Natalie!

My sister, Amanda, and I threw a bridal shower for Halle's kindergarten teacher, Cindy Sorenson. We had a lot of fun planning it and had a great time at the shower. I made lemon cupcakes with blueberry frosting--yummy!

We heard news of Matt and Cindy's courtship for months from Halle. She talked about Matt a lot. When Cindy asked her kindergartners for advice on how to get Matt to marry her, Halle was excited to help her out. Halle told her she should put candy in his room because it worked for her sister, Kyrie. It's a good thing Cindy took notes and kept the class' responses because they are priceless!! She is so happy and we wish her the best.
